HAPPY NEW YEAR! In the coming year SW wishes you quirkily memorable characters who struggle with complex relationships, pretzel-worthy plot twists, haunting themes and unusual settings. We also wish you, of course, many flowing words and an incisive mind for editing.

It’s January, and that means it’s time for JanNo, which is where your three SuperAdmins first met one another. After a couple of intense months in 2006 hanging around the JanNo boards, we created StringingWords. The rest, as they say, was history! JanNo is a great contest, with a set-your-own goal format, and we definitely recommend it.

A special feature at SW this month is Quirky Prompts, a series of daily prompts meant to enrich your writing and tickle your brain.

And then there is WriYe! First off, congratulations to everyone who met their year’s goal in 2008. What a lot of words we all wrote! Be sure to sign up this year as well; the 2009 board looks fantastic.

If these boards are quiet, it’s probably because we’re over at NaNo writing our hearts out and watching those shiny graphs climb toward 50K.

OCTOBER! You may be more familiar with this month’s other name: “The Month Before NaNo”. On StringingWords, we’re spending October getting ready for the world’s largest writing contest.

The Great StringMo Challenge!
